227 – Zacharius McDuff

Poem number 227
Zacharius McDuff
I have a pet rat
He’s called Zacharias McDuff
I feed him scraps
And sometimes other stuff
Depending on the day.
Today is Friday
On Friday a takeaway is the plan
I have Chinese
Zach tucks into the delivery man
And leaves just bones.
Tomorrow is Saturday
Zach’s having my cousin for lunch
And supper too
Because she’s a busybody with a hunch
That all is off kilter.
Then it’s Sunday
And he will fast, rest his tummy
For Monday
When I always play gin-rummy
With The Vicar.
The Vicar likes Zach
And often brings him choirboys
Or a Curate
Because he knows that Zach enjoys
