415 – Invasion Force Alpha

Poem number 415

Invasion Force Alpha

They arrive. Hidden in rainclouds. Engines off

And coasting. Malevolent driftwood

On the shore of the Earth.

Thousands of them. Evenly spaced. Equidistant

Weapons trained down. Interlocking fields of fire.

Angles. Trigonometry. Death.

Commands are given. Action Stations. Soldiers stand

Ready to fire. Invasion Force Alpha.

The colonists to follow.

It begins. Unbearable light. Unending silence

The drawn in breath before the scream

And then chaos.

It ends. A planet scrubbed of life. Ready

Willing and empty. The ships descend.

And new lives begin.
